DOTSON RETURNS TO VICTORY LANE IN IMCA SPORTMODS SATURDAY

Wayne Dotson of Bakersfield made it clear Saturday night he’s ready for the upcoming 31st Annual Budweiser Nationals. Dotson who has been taking a brake from racing in Bakersfield as he visited his son Ethan Dotson while he races in the Mid West, returned in fine fashion by leading all of the scheduled 25 lap main event. 13 Motor City GMC IMCA SportMods checked in at the Bakersfield Speedway to do battle on the 1/3 mile clay oval as the regular points season is wrapping up. Dotson took the green flag from his front row starting position and never looked back as it landed him in victory lane. Nick Spainhoward finished up second followed by Brylon Holder, Joey Dominguez and Billy Simkins rounding out the top five.

Mid Cal Fabrication IMCA Modifieds returned after a couple weeks off and ended up producing another great battle for the winners check Saturday night. Scott Pounds of Bakersfield lead the field to the green flag and showed the way around the clay oval for 24 of the 25 lap main event and looked to be on his way to the win. Eventual winner Robby Sawyer charged hard to from his eight starting spot and took the lead on the white flag lap to capture his fourth victory of the year followed by Pounds, Robert Sanders and Ricky Childress Jr.

8 Central Valley Tank IMCA Stock cars hit the clay oval with Mike Hill Jr grabbing the 20 lap feature followed by Troy Patee, Matt Brumley and Ben Lickey.

Coca Cola Mini Stocks crowned there 2016 track champion Saturday as Loni Spiller of Tehachapi captured another main event win on the night and secured the 2016 points championship. Shannon Triede finished second followed by Misty Warren and Shawn Schwartzenberger.

Bakersfield Speedway continues its popular racing season this Saturday night September 24th as champions will be crowned in Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks and American Stocks.
