DUTTON MAKES IT THREE IN A ROW WITH SPORTMOD WIN SATURDAY

As the season closes in on half way, Gary Dutton is in full stride at the Bakersfield Speedway. 14 Motor City IMCA SportMods checked in at the Bakersfield Speedway to do battle on the 1/3 mile clay high banked oval. Brylon Holder took an early control of the field as the 13 others had there work cut out contending with a tricky racing surface. Gary Dutton of Bakersfield, CA wasted no time as he picked his way through the field. Dutton followed Holder very close on the top side of the race track for several laps. In the end Dutton captured his third main event win followed by Ricky Childress Jr, Billy Simkins and Jason Nation rounding out the top four.
 
A strong field of 24 Coca Cola Mini stocks cars ended up producing another great battle for the winners check Saturday night. 2016 track champion Loni Spiller found her way again into victory lane but it didn’t come easy. Spiller charged hard to fight her way into the top spot as Shawn Schartzenberger led most of the race and looked to on his way to victory lane. A late caution bunched the back up and that was all Spiller needed to claim her victory.  Schwartzenberger finished up second followed by Clinton massey, Misty Warren and Kit Murphy rounding out the top five.
 
11 Racesaver Winged sprint cars checked in for their first appearance of 2017. These spec engine sprint cars put on a great show with fast qualifying times in the low twelve second range. Tanner Boul was the 25 lap main event winner followed by George Tristeo, Chris Ennis and Grant Duinkerken rounding out the top four. We look forward to having the sprints back three more times this season.
 
9 Bakersfield hard Tops hit the clay oval with James Bradburn grabbing the 20 lap feature followed by Josh Yadon, Rich Souza and Sean Shea.
 
RealFast.tv Mini Dwarfs were also in action Saturday with both divisions seeing first time winners landing in victory lane. Stryker Conley and Kennedy Cotton both winning their receptive classes.
 
Bakersfield Speedway continues its popular racing season this Saturday night May 20th as Bakersfield Paint and Wallpaper night at the races hosts IMCA Modifieds, Pro Stocks, Hobby Stocks, American Stocks and the NMRA Midgets. Gates open at 4:00pm with racing getting underway at 6:00pm.
