POUNDS RETURNS TO VICTORY LANE IN IMCA MODIFIED SATURDAY

The month of April is in full swing which only means great racing at the Bakersfield Speedway. 23 Mid Cal Fabrication IMCA Modifieds checked in at the Bakersfield Speedway to do battle on the 1/3 mile clay high banked oval. Troy Foulger took an early control of the field from his fourth place starting position as the 22 others had there work cut out contending with the northern CA driver. Brad Pounds of Bakersfield, CA started eight in the field wasted no time as he picked his way through the field. Pounds followed Foulger very close on the top side of the race track for several laps. In the end Pounds captured the main event win followed by Robby Sawyer, Foulger and Ethen Dotson rounding out the top four.
 
A strong field of 20 Motor City GMC IMCA SportMods cars ended up producing another great battle for the winners check Saturday night. Michael Johnson of Bakersfield lead the field to the green flag and stayed there in the early part of the 25 lap main event and looked to be on his way to his first checkered flag win. Eventual winner Clint Reichenbach charged hard to fight his way into the top spot to claim his first victory of the year followed by Jason Nation, Nick Spainhoward and Johnson rounding out the top four.
 
22 H&S Body Works Hobby Stocks checked in for the night of dirt track action. Tate loftisof Terra Bella had a strong outing starting in the sixth spot Saturday night showed the way around the 1/3 mile clay oval to win the 25 lap feature and his first Hobby Stock main event. Chris Settlemire took home a solid second place finish followed by Hobby Stock rookie Trevor Baker and hard charging Raymond Noland Jr rounding out the top four.
 
15 Mod Lites hit the clay oval with Zach Forester grabbing the 20 lap feature followed by young gun Jerry Flippo, Jeff Thompson and Kaden Cochrun.
 
RealFast.tv Mini Dwarfs were also in action Saturday with Jett Yantis and Broedy Graham both winning their receptive classes for the second time in as many races.
 
Bakersfield Speedway continues its popular racing season this Saturday night August 15th as KUZZ night at the races hosts the return of the USAC CRA 410 Sprint Cars along with IMCA SportMods, American Stocks and the Mini Stocks. Gates open at 4:00pm with racing getting underway at 6:00pm.
