Reichenbach makes it two in a row with Sportmod victory

Speedway Media, BAKERSFIELD, CA. (April 2, 2016) – Clint Reichenbach motored to his second Motor City GMC IMCA Northern SportMod victory of the year by winning Saturday night’s main event at the 1/3-mle high banked clay oval.

The Bakersfield native made it two victories in a row over the SportMod field, other Bakersfield Speedway winners included Trevor Baker in American Stocks, Jerry Flippo in Mod Lite action, Loni Spiller in Mini Stocks and Tim Randolph in Western Pro Stocks.

17 IMCA Northern SportMods checked into the Speedway Saturday night. Clint Reichenbach started in the fourth starting slot and had to work hard to get to the point. Wayne Dotson took the early green flag followed by Jarad Schweitzer and then Reichenbach. The three cars battled for the first part of the race trying to make work of the slick racing surface Saturday night. Just after the halfway point, Dotson got a right rear flat that gave the lead to Reichenbach which he held for the remaining laps. Chris McKellar finished second followed by Schweitzer and Jordan Hagar.

In Diamond IT Mod Lite action, Jerry Flippo of Bakersfield came from the eight starting spot to race to his first Mod Lite main event win at the Bakersfield Speedway ahead of 2015 track champion Zach Forester. Roy Maynard jr was third and Anthony Balcazar rounded out the top four spots.

Trevor Baker of Bakersfield capitalized on a perfect handling car in the American Stocks presented by Melo’s Gas and Gear. 16 American Stocks took to the 1/3 mile high banked clay oval with two time champion Brian Childress grabbing the early top spot. Baker kept heavy pressure on Childress until the 17th lap when Childress had trouble allowing Baker to take the point. Baker finished the last three laps with no real pressure and grabbing his first 20 lap main event win of the 2016 season. Miranda Scott was second followed by Dakota Brown and Ricky Childress Jr all of Bakersfield.

Tim Randolph of Santa Maria took his first main event win of 2016 in the Western Pro Stocks. Brady Bell both of Bakersfield was a very close second followed by Matt Mayo and Chad Weber.

In Mini Stock action, Steve Roark of Bakersfield made fast work of the 13 car field of mini stocks leading the entire 20 lap race. Roark was unable to get pass post race inspection which handed the win over to Loni Spiller. Spiller earned her second main event win of the season, followed by Shawn Schwartenberger and Kyleigh Conway.

Action continues at the Bakersfield Speedway this Saturday night, April 9th, featuring the IMCA Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, American Stocks, Mini Dwarfs, NMRA ¾ Midgets and the Hard Tops.
