With $1000 up for grabs to the winner of the IMCA modified main event winner, 16 cars took to the track to battle it out. Bobby Hogge visiting from Salinas CA started in 12th poistion and used only 15 of the 30 scheduled laps to get Robby Sawyer of Bakersfield and take the lead. Bret Bennett passed Chad Reichenbach for the lead on Lap 6, and then demonstrated his grasp of getting around the third-mile clay oval quicker than everyone else, winning the 25-lap race by five-car lengths.
