The popular IMCA Modifieds headlined the five division night with 17 cars checked in. Running the final feature e of the night provided plenty of side by side racing on the 1/3 mile high banked clay oval. Defending Honda USAC Western Midget Champion Ronnie Gardner of Norco, Calif. picked up right where he left off in 2014 by winning the 2015 series opener Saturday night at Bakersfield Speedway. BY STEPHEN LYNCH For The Californian Bakersfield Speedway kicked off its 70th season of racing on Saturday night with a full schedule of non-stop action. Five divisions of cars took to the high-banked, third-mile, clay oval, entertaining the packed grandstands with lots of side-by-side competition and a couple of thrilling finishes.
