TENTH ANNUNAL MIKE MOSHIER CLASSIC SERVES AS CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT AT BAKERSFIELD SPEEDWAY
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (August 12, 2025) – Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway celebrates The Race Doctor with the tenth annual Mike Moshier Classic on Saturday August 16th. The dirt track action serves as the 2025 championship night for all five points-paying divisions with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA stock Cars, H&S Body Works Hobby Stocks, and American Stocks competing. The event celebrates Mike Moshier, the late voice of the Bakersfield Speedway. Moshier was known for many catchphrases including Holy Guacamole. A large number of family members from the Moshier family will be in attendance. The new Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway at Enos Ln & I-5 includes the “Mike Moshier Tower” overlooking the one-third mile dirt track.
Grandstand gates open at 4:30pm with hot laps at 5pm. Opening ceremonies are set for approx. 6pm followed by heat races and main events for all five divisions. General Admission tickets are on sale now at www.BakersfieldSpeedway.com. Adult general admission tickets are $18 with kids ages 6-12 admitted for $10 while kids five and under are free! Parking is free of charge.
Bakersfield drivers Gavyn Manning and Brad Pounds are locked into a fierce battle for the IMCA Modified crown. Manning is just six markers ahead of Pounds as he aims for a successful defense of his 2024 title. Each driver has scored two wins and five top-five finishes in the nine events this year. Bryan Clark is just 18 points behind in third. Three-time winner Robby Sawyer is fourth followed by Rob Sanders. A 30-lap feature is on tap.
Tyler Bannister looks to overall his 2024 championship winning father Jason Bannister for the 2025 IMCA Sport Mod championship this Saturday. Tyler’s four wins have placed him into a six point lead followed by Jason with three wins. Paul Brown, Tyler Irwin, and Dylan Wilson are the balance of the top-five with a 25-lap feature on Saturday.
The IMCA Stock Car battle is also a close one with Raymond Noland leading Justin Schweitzer by only eight points. Jacob Van Essen is third. All three drivers are still driving for a main event win this season. Austin Van Hoff of Chowchilla has one win to rank fourth, followed by Billy Simkins with one main event win in fifth. IMCA Stock Cars race for 20-laps at the Mike Moshier Classic.
Nicholas Johnson’s three victories have propelled him to a 36-point advantage in the H&S Body Works Hobby Stocks over Marcus Wankum. Troy Thomas, Jr., Ethan Johnson, and Brooke Cimental are the rest of the top-five Hobby drivers in 2025. The Hobby Stocks race in a 20-lap feature on Saturday.
Kyle Wood enjoys Bakersfield’s largest points lead in the American Stocks, charging to a 60-point advantage. Carson Conway, Cameron Campbell, and 2024 champion Sunnie Simkins are tied for second in the standings. Jon McKinley rounds out the top-five before Saturday’s 20-lap race.
