TINA POUNDS CAPTURES POPULAR SPORTMOD WIN SATURDAY

As the 2018 race season rolls into the second half, Tina Pounds of Bakersfield, CA showed she is still no stranger to the Victory Lane at the Bakersfield Speedway. 16 Motor City IMCA SportMods checked in at the Bakersfield Speedway to do battle on the 1/3 mile clay high banked oval. Pounds took an early control of the field as the 15 others had there work cut out catching her on the smooth racing surface. Kevin Johnson of Bakersfield, CA took his time as he picked his way through the field. Johnson followed Pounds very close on the bottom side of the race track for several laps but could never get the pass completed to take the top spot. In the end Pounds captured her first main event win of 2018 followed by Johnson, Guy Ahlwardt and Gary Dutton rounding out the top four.
The Coca Cola Mini stocks had a dominating proformance for the winners check Saturday night. Jason Cook charged hard to the top spot and never was contested on his way to victory lane.  Paul Schwartzenberger finished up second followed by Shawn Schwartzenberger, Roy Maynard Sr and David Wolford rounding out the top five.
RealFast.tv Mini Dwarfs were also in action Saturday with both divisions putting on a great battle throughout the entire field. Tyler Blankenship and Ethan Giannetto both winning their receptive classes. .
Cade Lewis grabbed his first Mini Mod main event win of the season as this new division hit the mini infield track in 2018.
Bakersfield Speedway continues its popular racing season this Saturday night July 21st as IMCA Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, IMCA Stock Cars, Mod Lites and the Hard Tops are all in action. Gates open at 5:00pm with racing getting underway at 7:00pm. Happy Hour from 5pm to 6pm with $1 food specials, $1 sodas and $1 beers.
